2011 will be a challenge for peace activists. The carnage continues and the military industrial complex is firmly in control of the mass media. What can we do? We need to be out in the streets. Weekly vigils are a excellent way to make sure our neighbors are reminded of the wars. We need to continue our effort to inform the public of the true cost of the wars. AS the economy worsens, many young people feel increasing pressure to join the military. We must make sure they are well informed before they enlist.
National efforts are also extremely important and the April 9 Anti-war March in NYC, sponsored by United National Anti-war Committee (UNAC) and a growing number of other local and national organizations will be an important step in our efforts to keep the public informed and involved in the effort to stop the wars and bring our troops home.War is not the answer!
